My Graphic Novel/Comic Book Wish List

Okay, so I very recently discovered how amazing graphic novels really are (yes, yes, shame on me) and I’ve compiled a list of them that I want to gobble up the very first chance I get.

Since I haven’t read any of them, what I’m going to do is post a link back to the blog/site that made me want to read them in the first place.

And so, in no particular order..

#1 : Courtney Crumrin And The Night Things – Ted Naifeh

I love the illustration already, and I found an amazing review here:  Omphaloskepsis

#2 : Daytripper – Gabriel Ba, Fabio Moon

Review found at: Good Ok Bad

This blog is jaw-droppingly good. The amount of detail that is put into each review leaves me speechless.

#3: Maus – Art Spiegelman

This one needs no introduction, and yes, I haven’t read it yet. Baby steps. I will, pinky swear.

#4: Asterios Polyp – David Mazzucchelli

Again, Good Ok Bad.

And because I trust my Goodreads recommendations,

#5 : Marvel 1602 – Neil Gaiman

Needless to say, after Good Omens, Neil Gaiman is top priority. I’m thoroughly enjoying Neverwhere, and I just wish I didn’t have my exams at the moment.

#6: Robot Dreams – Sara Varon

#7: The People Of Paper – Salvador Plascencia

#8: Friends With Boys – Faith Erin Hicks

#9: Anya’s Ghost – Vera Brosgol

#10: Camp Foxtrot – Bill Amend

I’ve been wanting to read Foxtrot for AGES, and I just never seem to get around to it.

There are tons more that I want to get my hands on, but I think I’ll stop here. (Ten is a nice round number)

I’ve been wanting to read Scott Pilgrim for a very long time, as well – and I finally did last night! Well, the first three issues, anyway. (See why so many of my to-reads stay un-read? Scott Pilgrim just interrupted Gaiman who interrupted Llosa.)

Also, Kate Beaton’s Hark! A Vagrant. I’m a huge fan of her webcomic, but I want the book!

Have you read any of these? Do you think any of them warrant a, “What is wrong with you, woman?! Read that NOW “? Are there any you loved that aren’t on this list? Let me know!

Yay, I’m glad to know I’m not the only late bloomer to graphic novels, I just discovered the joy of them last week! I read Maus for an English class and loved it, definitely a great recommendation. In terms of my recommend I love the Fables series, any graphic novels from Joss Whedon and Batman Dark Victory. I’m working through the lengthy list I have as well!

I loved Fables, too! I haven’t read anything by Joss Whedon, thanks for that. 🙂 And Maus.. Every time I decide to read it, I always get distracted by another book. What does your list include?! I’m eager to get my hands on anything new! I’ve loved every graphic novel I’ve read so far, which is something I’m amazed by.

Well in terms of what I have to read. 100 Bullets is amazing if you’re info noir comics. I’m working through those. I have the Fables and Grimm’s Fairy Tales. I have Ex Machina, a few of the classic Batmans, The Walking Dead and those are just what I already have to get through!
